Resource Characteristics
Resource Type data resource (neuroscience data or findings).database (data sets)
Data Format html,xml,owl(experimental)
Content Text ORDB began as a database of vertebrate olfactory genes and proteins and continues to support sequencing and analysis of these receptors by providing a comprehensive archive with search tools for this expanding family. Because of the associated growth of interest in other chemsensory receptors, the database has grown over the years to include a broad range of chemosensory genes and proteins, that includes in addition to olfactory receptors, the taste papilla receptors, vomeronasal organ receptors, insect olfaction receptors, Caenorhabditis elegans chemosensory receptors, and fungal pheromone receptors.

Utility Text ORDB is the primary resource for information regarding olfactory and other chemosensory receptors

Comments
Resource Comments Each Chemosensory receptor is represented by attributes and descriptors (values). ORDB is built on the EAV/CR (Entity-Attribute-Value with Classes and Relationships) schema. Chemosensory receptors are represented by an ORDB nomenclature and the common name (given by the laboratory that has cloned or otherwise identified the receptor). A consensus nomenclature represents receptors that have been identified from complete genome sequencing results.
